Problem
Many tutors at Mi'An Education come from traditional school settings, where they're used to teaching large classes and don't have to focus much on individual students.
Students at Mi'An have reported they feel bored during lessons and even wanted to stop taking classes because they didn't like the tutor or the lessons.
Solution
To address these issues, I developed a persona-led eLearning project that helped Mi'An Education tutors adapt to 1-on-1 tutoring. The training provided practical strategies like setting clear goals, using gamification, and tailoring lessons to individual needs, while also emphasizing the importance of building personal connections.
As a result, tutors became more confident, and students felt more engaged and connected during lessons.
Design Process
Research & the ADDIE Model
I started by conducting surveys with all students and following up with interviews for those who raised concerns about their tutoring experiences. The data revealed key issues, such as boredom and lack of connection, which led me to focus on students' emotions as the foundation of the course design. I used the ADDIE model for its structured, iterative approach, ensuring thorough analysis, design, and development.
Text-based storyboard
I created a text-based storyboard to outline the scenarios and interactions scene by scene, scripting each slide's content, on-screen text, and interaction before building anything in Storyline.
Visual mockups in Figma
Once the storyboard was finalized, I designed the visual mockups in Figma, establishing the color palette and UI components used throughout the course.
Development in Articulate Storyline
I built the finished course in Articulate Storyline 360, incorporating interactive elements. I also gave tutors a comprehensive document summarizing the course and offering tips for applying the strategies in their own sessions.
Live prototype
This is the finished, interactive Articulate Storyline course, hosted for tutors to complete on their own schedule.
